Low Carbon Steel Technology Development Conference

According to the latest statistics from the World Steel Association (WSA), global crude steel production will reach 1.8826 billion tons in 2024, a year-on-year decrease of 0.8%.On average, 1.92 tons of carbon dioxide are emitted into the atmosphere for each ton of steel produced. This results in direct carbon emissions from the steel industry of approximately 3.6 billion tons, accounting for 7% to 9% of total global emissions.

Reducing carbon emissions while steel production continues to grow requires all colleagues in the steel industry to innovate and quickly open and deploy completely different process technology routes. Steelmakers will be forced to fundamentally change their steel production processes and achieve climate targets in a timely manner through technological innovation.

The Low Carbon Steel Technology Development Conference and the Low Carbon Development Open Forum are two annual events organized by the world steel association under the climate action framework. This conference provides a platform for people working in the technical field to connect and communicate, and discuss how to make the required technology choices.
